Introduction

These LYRES are made in the West Country studio workshop of John Bryan, where they are hand-crafted in selected hardwoods. 
Over many years working in this field, he has developed instruments which aim to be as much 'of a piece' as possible.
They combine technical with artistic considerations, using internal lemniscatory configurations to enhance the sound flow within the total design.

The smaller instruments are usually available from stock. The chromatic Lyres are made to order, at which point customers' special wishes can be considered.
Many are built entirely of elm wood, to which healing Mercurial forces are attributed, though sycamore, ash and other suitable hardwoods may be selected. All instruments are polished to bring out the natural beaty of the wood.
